Prerequisites & Setup
What you should already know before starting Angular, and what tools you need installed.
Knowledge Prerequisites
Angular has more moving parts than some frameworks, so a slightly stronger baseline going in will make this course much smoother.
- JavaScript fundamentals — variables, functions, arrays, objects, and ES modules (import/export).
- Basic TypeScript familiarity is a plus, but not required — this course introduces the TypeScript features Angular relies on as you go.
- Basic HTML & CSS — comfortable reading and writing markup and styles.
- Basic command-line comfort — running npm/CLI commands and navigating folders in a terminal.
You don't need TypeScript mastery to start — Angular introduces you to types, interfaces, and decorators naturally as part of learning the framework itself.
Tools You Need
Node.js (LTS)
The Angular CLI runs on Node.js — install the current Long-Term-Support version from nodejs.org.
The Angular CLI
Installed globally via npm, and used to scaffold and manage Angular projects.
A Code Editor
VS Code with the official Angular Language Service extension gives strong template and type-checking support.
A Modern Browser
Chrome, Firefox, or Edge — ideally with the Angular DevTools extension installed.
Who This Course Is For
JavaScript Developers
You know JavaScript basics and want a complete, structured framework to build with.
React/Vue Developers
You want to compare Angular's approach or add it as a second framework for enterprise work.
Enterprise-Track Developers
You're targeting roles at large companies where Angular is the standard.
FAQs
No — RxJS is covered in this course exactly where you need it, alongside HttpClient. A little exposure to it will make that lesson smoother, but it's not a prerequisite.
Install the current LTS (Long-Term Support) release — Angular's documentation states its exact minimum supported version, but the latest LTS is always a safe choice.
Summary
With JavaScript basics and Node.js in place, you're ready to start — this course builds your TypeScript and RxJS knowledge alongside Angular itself. Next, you'll install the Angular CLI and scaffold your first project.
