Prerequisites & Setup
What you should already know before starting Vue.js, and what tools you need installed.
Knowledge Prerequisites
Vue is a genuinely friendly starting framework, but this course assumes a baseline in web fundamentals.
- HTML & CSS — comfortable reading and writing basic markup and styles.
- JavaScript fundamentals — variables, functions, arrays, objects, and ES modules (import/export).
- Basic command-line comfort — running npm commands and navigating folders in a terminal.
Unlike some frameworks, Vue is commonly learned as a first framework — you don't need React or Angular experience to follow this course.
Tools You Need
Node.js (LTS)
Vue's tooling (Vite) runs on Node.js — install the current Long-Term-Support version from nodejs.org.
A Package Manager
npm ships with Node.js. pnpm or yarn work equally well if you prefer them.
A Code Editor
VS Code with the official Vue - Official extension gives strong template and TypeScript support.
A Modern Browser
Chrome, Firefox, or Edge — ideally with the Vue.js devtools extension installed.
Who This Course Is For

You know JavaScript basics and want your first component-based framework.
React/Angular Developers
You want to compare Vue's approach or add it as a second framework.
Career Builders
You're building a portfolio and want a widely respected, in-demand framework.
FAQs
No — this course uses plain JavaScript by default. TypeScript with Vue is covered later as an optional, valuable addition.
Install the current LTS (Long-Term Support) release — Vite documents its exact minimum version, but the latest LTS is always a safe choice.
Summary
With JavaScript basics and Node.js in place, you're ready to start. Next, you'll scaffold your first Vue project.
